Q: Hey BMXperts! I need help with 180`s. I know it helps to turn my head when turning, but I just cant seem to get the full 180, I usually end up landing at about a 90, if lucky about a 120. I know there are many tips on Youtube and all over the web, but I thought you might know more. Also please tell me how to air out of a quarter pipe, I’m not sure what to do and have never tried.
Thanks
A: The most successful advice we have offered readers about 180s is to learn them on a bank, or conveniently enough, a mellow quarter pipe. The hardest part about spinning is turning your head blind side to the action, so why not keep the action right in front of you. Rather then try to do a 180 on flat and worry about the roll back, find a mellow bank and do your 180s there. This will allow you to ride up, turn 90, 120 and eventually 180 and ride away facing forwards. When you get your spins down, then take them to the flat and then worry about the roll back. Now, when you are comfortable, you can also apply what you have learned to the quarter and kill two birds with one stone. Also be sure to check out our trick tips online for more on 180’s.
