ASK THE BMXPerts: 21” TOP TUBE OPTIONS
Bookmark and Share

Q: Hi, Let me start off by saying that I love the mag and that you guys have helped me with everything from how the bike works to riding the bike. The question that I have for you is that I’m looking into a bigger bike something like a park mountain bike or a freestyle cruiser. I am 6’2” and it is hard to find a 20” freestyle that has a 21” top tube. The bikes I am looking at are the Eastern Trail-digger 24 and 26, any opinions? Also if you can recommend a 20” freestyle bike with a 21” TT under $600 that would be great.

A: Not quite sure why people think they are Paul Bunyan when they get over six foot, but don’t worry, there is hope for your surely terminal case of gigantism. If you are a serious rider, or simply ride hard, scrap the 24” and 26” shopping and stick with the 20”, it will be stronger, last longer and allow you to learn more, faster. Check out the We The People 4 Seasons, the DK Aura, the Kink Gap XL, the Premium Four Carat or the Haro Forum Counterpart Lite. These are all great bikes and we have even tested the Haro Forum Lite already for 2010 and loved it, so with more options then you should be able to handle with 21” top tubes, at or below $600, you have no more excuses, get riding.
