Hi, my name is Alex, I just started BMXing this year and I wanted to know what are some basic tricks to do. I can already footjam, jhop, smith grind, and barspin. Im trying to get my parents to send me to Woodward, I really want to meet some pros and learn some good stuff. There are not a lot of competitions were I live but there is BMX racing but my bike is not built for racing.
Sounds like you have a pretty good list of tricks going for you already, so the key is to expand on what you already know. You know how to smith grind, so learn feebles (back peg on and front tire up) double pegs and icepicks. You know footjams, so try and do them in new places, like on quarters, wedges or in more tech places, like on parking stops. Even bunnyhops (jhops) you can progress by jumping bigger gaps, and over higher stuff. You can even work barspins into your hops. Whether or not your bike is built for the track, its still fun to ride there and work on your skills. We will take our pegs off and hit the track once or twice a week just to jump and have fun with friends and work on bike control. As for Woodward, it will be the greatest experience of your life, so beg harder. Good luck Alex.
