Q: Hey, I need some help. I’m having trouble doing spines at some of the skate parks I go to down in Rhode Island, and I was wondering if you guys have any tips on them? I could really use the

By the sounds of it, you already have been trying to jump spines and you just need a little help to smooth it out and get the right form down. What you want to do is approach the spine with the same speed you would go to do a comfortable air on it as if you were riding it like a quarter pipe. Ride up the spine at a slight angle to the left or right and pull up. As you pull up, start to push your weight forward; once you hit the peak of your air push down on your front end and make sure that your back wheel clears the coping or deck of the spine.  Once you have the basic motion down, you can travel further side to side and pull up higher.
