RIGHT SIZE FRAME

I’m 5"4 and I’m looking to purchase a Kink Launch with a 20.25” top tube frame.
Would it be two big for my size or is it just be preference? (btw I’m still
growing in height) Thanks.

FINDING THE RIGHT FIT 20 YEARS LATER

Hi

I am 6 feet tall and 37 years old. I know I should know better, from the years riding, but I was always in and out of riding, so things keep changing and I can’t keep up.

After so many years I don’t have a frame that fits me like it used to and the best I had was a Profile Racing Freestyle frame (in pink) with a Haro Kneesaver race handlebar circa 1992. I never quite got it again since then.

I already got a 21’’ up to date frame and the tallest handlebar I could get, but I still feel stuck handling the bike, especially bunny hoping into tricks.

Can you give some advice on what to change to improve how my bike feels? What could make more difference? And would all 21’’ frames feel the same or are there other geometry specs I should look into?

Thanks

Mario

HIGH PRESSURE OR LOW PRESSURE

I dont understand why sometimes you guys will say a high pressure tire is good, but then other times you say that a tire is good because you can run it soft. What is the difference?

Cranks Or Cassette?

Dear mailbag,
My name is Sam and I am 13 years old.  My birthday is coming up in June, and
I am asking for Demolition Revolt cranks.  However, I also want a new
cassette wheel.  It is a Demolition Rouge.  The only problem, is these two
are too expensive to get together. Which one should I get?  The old parts
are both stock off a Felt chasm 2010.  What should I ask for?  Thanks for
listening, and keep making the best mag in the world!

Sam B.

BMX OR SKATEBOARDS

Dear bmx plus
My name Is Rowan and I am 10 years old. I can’t decide wether to do bmx or skateboarding. Skateboarding is fun but I think bmx is better but I am not strong enough to pull the Handel bars up to do a bunny hop. If I can’t bunny hop then it isn’t fun to just ride around and not do tricks. So should I wait to get a bmx or get one now and then just practice?

ADDING TRICKS TO THE LIST

Hi, my name is Alex, I just started BMXing this year and I wanted to know what are some basic tricks to do. I can already footjam, jhop, smith grind, and barspin. Im trying to get my parents to send me to Woodward, I really want to meet some pros and learn some good stuff. There are not a lot of competitions were I live but there is BMX racing but my bike is not built for racing.

BIG BIKE FOR A BIG BOY

Hello My name is Jay and I was needing some input on some bikes. I am 40 years old and grew up at the skateparks riding BMX and then when I got older I started driving trucks over the road. Living life over the road has taking toll on my body. I am 5"11 and 270pds. I got hit by the bug again as my 2 sons came of age to ride and now that I am off the truck and trying to get back in shape. I bought a redline and a WTP bike for them but when I went to buy mine they seemed so small. I am looking at 24in and maby a 22in. I would love to show them there old dad can still ride I hope. When we go to the dirt jumps and skate park I see a trend of dads starting to ride again and I think it is awsome. My problem that I face is my weight I am afraid I will crush wheels or frames. I know as soon as I start riding I will shed the weight I just want back on a bike. BMX has always been a part of my life and would take any advise I could get on what brands size wheels ect.. thanks. Jay White Lubbock TX.

BUTTING BARS

What is the point of butted bars? Its seems like they would be weak.

HUB IS CLICKIN’

My Odyssey hub was clicking and skipping, so I replaced it with a Primo Cassette and it is doing the same thing only a few months later. What’s the deal?

NEW BIKE FOR AN OLD RIDER

I used to ride freestyle a long time ago and recently I found out there is a skatepark in my new town. I am about to turn 39 and I am in decent shape. I am 5’ 10” and 135 pounds. I have no idea what bikes are good anymore so I thought I would write and ask if you can suggest a bike for me. I used to ride a GT and I thought I might go with one of them again. I don’t want to spend a ton of money, but I also want something that will last. Any suggestions?

BEARING IN THE FRAME

Dear BMXPLUS,

So i just got a Sapient Saga Pro, and when I lift the back end of the bike upwards, I heard like a ball rolling inside the frame. Then I put the down and then it sounds like the ball rolls down. I am thinking it is like a BB pellet in there? The frame is full chromoly, the sound is coming from the top tube. Please help!

FREECOASTER 1/8” TO 14MM ADAPTOR

Dear Plus!

I need your help.  I’m an old school freestyler and many of the tricks I used to do require a coaster brake (pedal pickers, etc).  I have a newer bike that has wheels with 14 millimeter axles.  I wanted to throw a coaster brake on my bike so I could do some of those old tricks, so I snagged an old coaster brake rim off eBay only to realize it has 3/8 axles and that wasn’t going to work with my new bike.  I thought I solved the problem when I found out that there are 3/8 to 14mm axel converters available.  But I struck out again when I found that those are only available in 26T and my coaster brake rim is 24T (I think all coaster brake thread are 24T in fact).  Does anyone make a coaster brake rim with 14mm axles that you are aware of??? Or any advice on how to run a coaster brake rim with 3/8 axles on a newer ride with the bigger dropout size????  I’ve been at this for months trying to come up with a solution and am giving up hope there is one…..

Thank you for any input!!!!!!!!!!!!

AN EYE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY

Hi I’m thirteen and will be looking for a career in photography hopefully
alongside an urban, action magazine in a couple of years time although first
I’m seeking advice. I know its required to have an eye for photography
especially action shots and I’ve been told by many people that I have it. Also
I wanted to know what professional camera you would recommend to me?
Specifically for action shots and one that would be good for a beginner. Also,
what courses at college/university would I need to take to be an expert? I’ll
save more for when you reply, if your interested in seeing my work so far then
give me a shout:)
Thanks, Charlotte.
