WHATS UP WITH OREGON
Hi,
I’m Dustin Dunckel, I am 17 years old from Portland, Oregon and I was writing because I want to know what is up with all the parks that don’t allow bikes? There aren’t any near me that do and today the cops kicked me and a few friends out of a skate park when we don’t have anywhere else to ride. No matter where you go, street or park it’s no bikes. I don’t get it and don’t know where to ride without getting into trouble. So what can I do?

CRUISER FOR A SHORTER ADULT
Hello BMXperts,
My little guy is getting started BMX racing. I have been out of it for 24 years but thought I would give it a go in the 40-year-old cruiser class. I used to race Expert and Cruiser quite successfully way back when. I am in excellent physical shape but I am very short at 5’4”. I am concerned about getting a bike that fits.
Can you help me with:
• Frame sizing, or recommend a specific make/model
• Aluminum versus chromoly
• Crank length
• Anything else you may recommend
Thanks for your help!
Bill

OLD GUY, BACK FOR MORE
Hello,
My name is Travis Barlow and I used to be a points chaser back in the 80’s. Loved the sport and it kept me out of alot of trouble. A guy here in our small town is trying to start an ABA track and the racing bug got me again. So I was wondering, what should an old guy ride? At 6’3 and 230 lbs should I go with a 20” or go for the 24” cruiser?

FIGURING SPOKE LENGTH
Hi BMX Plus!,
My name is Ryan McTevia and I’m 13 years old. I’ve been riding for as long as I can remember and wanted to ask you a question. I am building a back rim for my 08 Stolen Sinner. I am using a 36-hole Alienation Black Sheep rim, an Eastern Birectional hub and alloy nipples but I’m not sure what size spokes I’ll need or what gauge. I wanted to triple lace it. If you could help I would really appreciate it.

BEGINNER WITH $200 TO SPEND
Dear BMXperts,
I have read the BMX Plus! magazine in my school and have wanted to try to get into BMX. I’ve been riding and jumping bikes since I was about 8, so I know the basics. I wanted to ask you guys what your opinion on a good starter BMX bike would be. I just want to learn how to bunny hop, jump small things, maybe use pegs for very small rails and just learn some basics. I’m hoping to maybe stay under $200. If it helps, I’m 13. Thanks for your help.

NANO’S WEAK LINK
Dear BMXperts,
Nice mag, I was looking into purchasing an 8 tooth rear hub, but people that I know say that this design is defective because the bearings are much smaller and can break much easier. I don t believe them but if there are any defects what are they? Before hand thank you guys this information will be very helpful!!!

NEW BIKES AND THE BASICS
Q: Hi BMX Plus!, my name is Tyler Bourgoin and I am 15. I have been biking for four months. My friends call me “Stunts” because I try to do tricks and epically fail. I will try and try again and still not get it. I have a Dyno GT BMX bike and don’t know if they even make the brand anymore. I am not so good at flatland biking and need to learn some more tricks. I can only 180, jayhop, bunnyhop, and wheelie and I was wondering if you could give me some tricks to learn. I want to be good at flatland biking but I’m still clueless. I love reading your mags, your Tech Tips help me alot. Well if you can help I would very much appreciate it.

NOT JUST BOYS FUN
Q: Hey BMXperts, First off, my name is Ally, I’m 14, and yeah, I am a girl. I’m writing to ask you if you know of any good reliable websites that sell DK Siklons. I’ve been saving up for it for about a year, but I need a good place to get it from, and there aren’t any shops where I live. Thanks, I love your magazine.

BUNNYHOP BARSPINS
Q: Hey, What’s up BMXperts? I have a question, how do you do a bunnyhop barspin? I did it a few times but the bars would keep on spinning and I would get a nasty skin scrape on the asphalt ouch!

PIT BIKE POST
Q: Hi, I’m Rick from Surrey BC, Canada. I just bought a 2010 Haro X16 pit BMX. I need a high quality seat post like a Thomson. I am 5’5” and 150 pounds.
Do they make a laid back seat post with a support bar that’s made of chromoly?
What’s the strongest laid back seat post made for 25.4 that has a support bar?

TIRE TROUBLES
Q: I just bought a new Verde bike and when I 180, the bike tire pops out of the rim a little. If I leave it, it gets bigger so I have to keep deflating and pushing it back in the rim, then reinflating it. What is the matter with the back tire?
