AN EYE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY

Hi I’m thirteen and will be looking for a career in photography hopefully
alongside an urban, action magazine in a couple of years time although first
I’m seeking advice. I know its required to have an eye for photography
especially action shots and I’ve been told by many people that I have it. Also
I wanted to know what professional camera you would recommend to me?
Specifically for action shots and one that would be good for a beginner. Also,
what courses at college/university would I need to take to be an expert? I’ll
save more for when you reply, if your interested in seeing my work so far then
give me a shout:)
Thanks, Charlotte.

HUB GUARDING

Hey, I have a problem, I ride a 2011 Fit Inman 3 and I can’t find a hub guard that will fit. You see, whenever I put a hubguard on it creates friction with the bearing and wont let my wheel spin. I wonder if I’m putting it on improperly or if the whole thing is just hopeless.

BIG BARS ON A 24

Hello. I’m 43 years old and getting back into BMX racing after many years away. The last time I raced was in my teens. I’m planning on racing my current 24” cruiser, an SE So Cal Flyer. I know it’s not the racier version, the Floval Flyer, but it’s what I already own.

My question is about handle bars. I have noticed most of the bikes in the cruiser class are running low rise, mini style bars. I replaced my original 5” rise bars with 8.25’s. It’s more comfortable for me when I’m actually cruising and street riding. I am wondering if there is any reason I should run my lower bars when racing. I am 6’2” tall and fairly muscular and large framed…if that makes any difference.

ONE IN FOUR AINT BAD

I have a ‘98 haro Cozmo, all orig, except the sprocket was swapped with a odyssey 36t from this next bike. The next is a ‘98 Kona Kuku, it’s not orig at all except the frame, but it has the sprocket from the Cozmo and I can’t remember why. The next is a ‘98 Haro Revo, and it’s basically non rideable, but has orig parts. An the last is a ‘84 (I’m pretty sure on year) Haro Master and not rideable. Cozmo is all chrome, Kuku is green, Revo is yellow and Master is chrome. Are these really rare like people say they are? If so, rate each one is terms of rarity please!!!! Thank you lots!!

F-I-T VS W-T-P

Hey I’ve been BMXing for about a year now and I would like to upgrade to a better BMX. I ride street and park and I was wondering if you could help me out a bit I was deciding between a We The People Crysis or a Fit bike Eddie 3. I like the Eddie 3 because of the colors but I like the Crysis because of the better components. Could you give me a hand and kind of tell me what would be a better bike?

  Thanks Tyler,

CRANK IT UP, FOR LESS

Dear BMXperts,

I am buying new cranks and I was wondering are the Stolen Mob cranks good? I’m kind of strapped for cash that’s why I am getting those. Also I have to get a new bottom bracket to go with those so I wanted to know if I should get the Sputnic bottom bracket.

NON-BMX HOOD

Hey BMXperts,
My name is Jackson, I’m 11 years old and I’m pretty new to riding BMX. I’ve been riding bikes since I was about seven years old but I’ve never learned any tricks! I can’t even really do a bunnyhop and my neighborhood is the worst riding spot ever. Please tell me how to some tricks in a non-BMX neighborhood!

3/8” DROPOUTS AND A 14MM AXLE

My name is Caleb, and I ride a Diamondback. I was wondering if I could get a cassette to fit my 3/8 dropouts. My friends are telling me to drill out the dropouts to 14mm, or slot the axle, but I think there’s just toO much to risk. Should I try these ideas, should I find a cassette with 3/8” axle, or just deal with 44/16 gearing?

SHORTY SEEKING SHORTY

Dear BMXperts,
Hey, I’m a fully-grown, short rider at only 5-foot. I find a 20” top tube length too big for me, but I can’t find anywhere that does anything smaller than that, unless it’s a kid’s bike. In which case it weighs a ton. I’m looking for a lightweight BMX with a frame suitable for my height. Any advice?

DHERS FAN

Dear BMXperts,
Hey, I’m Danny and I just started Riding. I am Riding A Redline Romp. I’m still learning to do some tricks. I’ve learned how to bunny hop that’s about it. All I need to do is keep practicing. Plus love the mag I just started reading it 2 weeks ago at my school. My school just started getting them in May. My Favorite Rider is Daniel Dhers. I don’t know why I like him, he is just so awesome. Daniel, keep doing what your doing.
Danny

WHAT’S A SAPIENT?

Dear BMXperts,
I’m just getting into BMX and I learned how to pro hop on my friends DK. Anyway, I am trying to save a few bucks I searched Craigslist for a bike at a great price and found a Sapient Mx1 for $80. I thought it would be a good price so I could still afford to customize and upgrade it. Was it a good choice? Thanks guys!

OH, IT’S CRAPPY

Dear BMXperts,
Hey, my name is Joseph and I want to learn how to BMX. I have a Mongoose Outer limit with two sets of pegs on it, brake pads on both wheels and a kickstand on it. My friends say that it is a crappy bike and I do too. If you think it is crappy, and be honest, tell me what kind of bike I should get for a beginner. If you don’t, then tell me what modifications I should make. Also, I need to know how to start to BMX, like where to start or what trick I should begin with. Keep up the good work with the magazines, and e-mail me back.  Bye!

BIKES BY THE ENGLISH POUND

HI,
My son has just turned 10 and he wants a new BMX bike. He currently has the Mongoose Micron, but he wants a better one. He has about £200-£250 to spend. What do you recommend?
Thanks
Gwen Peat

HALF LINK FOR A 25/9F

“Hey guys, How are you? I bought a new half-link chain for my BMX and the back sprocket keeps jumping teeth. Do I need a smaller, or larger rear sprocket? What should I do?”
