Who took home the Pro titles

Yet another year has passed and many more epic battles have been logged for the record books. The Grands act as a last points grab for all racers and when things get close, as they always do, titles are decided by how things finish in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In AA Pro it has been a long year and because of the Olympics, riders have all been pushed to the breaking point, some nearly doubling the amount of racing they would be doing in a normal USA BMX only season. But in spite of it all some familiar names found their way back to the top. The points battle came down to Sam Willoughby and Marc Willers and both riders were trading up wins on the track all weekend but when it came down to it, it would be Redline’s Sam Willoughby who would take the race win, followed by Fields and Herman, to further his lead and take the AA Pro title away from reigning #1, Marc Willers.

The Girl Pro race got really interesting at the end of the season when Dominique Daniels, the four time title holder had some rough races and crashed out of competition in Fresno, opening the door to her closest competition. Caroline Buchanan didn’t miss a beat and raked in some much needed points and would even go into the Grands with a points lead. The points were so close, their order of finish in the main would dictate the way they would close out the season. Fortunately neither rider needed a win because the race win went to Redline’s Alise Post, but with Dom on her heals and Caroline in fourth Dominique would take her record setting fifth title in a row.

Vet Pro had everyone on their toes as a three way battle for the title took to the track. Cristian Becerine, Javier Colombo and defending #1Vet Pro Matt Pohlkamp were all in the running. When all three riders made the main, it was clear that their order of finish would dictate who would take home the title. After some rough racing early on in qualifying, Free Agent’s Cristian Becerine pulled the pack and took a clean win for the title. Matt Pohlkamp chased him to the line, followed closely by Javier Colombo for an exciting points chase that was decided at the end of the season by just over a second of lap time. Now that’s racing.
