Well we have it all and for the core BMXer, it is all here in beautiful, handcrafted 4130 chromoly. We know it may not be the stiffest or lightest weight material on the track, but for the weekend warrior who still prefers a frame with history and an attitude, CroMo cant be beat. So if you are shopping, here are some bikes with roots, that aren’t so deep reaching that they have lost sight of the future of performance.
S&M .38 SPECIAL
If you are on the hunt for a classic race feel from a classic race brand, then the .38 Special is a perfect choice. On the constant hunt for most stable features to add to a frame built for speed, the .38 Special features longer spans, both front and rear, with four top tube options between 20.5” and 21.25” and a chainstay length that spans 14.5”-15.25”. Pair this with a more responsive 74.5-degree headtube angle, 11.5” bottom bracket height and 4.3-pound weight and you have a bike that is quick up to speed, stable when it gets there, but doesn’t handle light a freight train. Made in the USA, it features butted, Super Therm heat-treated chromoly tubing with an integrated headtube, Mid bottom bracket shell and V-brake mounts. Also available in cruiser sizes.
