GATORADE FREE FLOW TOUR’S FIRST BMX EVENT AT SKATE CITY TAKEN BY MIKE PAYNE

Lands Spot in Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals in Salt Lake City This September

Burr Ridge, Ill. – September 7, 2010 – Skate City hosted their first Gatorade Free Flow Tour event this past weekend, holding a BMX park contest on Sunday. Mike Payne came out victorious, earning a spot on the highly-competitive Finals roster.

Nineteen-year-old Las Vegas local Payne staked his claim to the win after executing a big flair on the vert wall, alley-oop flair transfer from the quarter to the wall ride, a flat spin 360 over the jump box, no foot can can, and a 360 x-up.

“Today was such a fun contest and I can’t believe I won,” Payne said. “Salt Lake is going to be awesome; I can’t wait to ride the course!”

“Las Vegas was lucky to have the Gatorade Free Flow Tour stop at Skate City this year,” Skate City owner, Josh Lavietes, said. “It went off with ease, and in the 14 years I’ve been involved with skateboarding and BMX, I’ve never seen such an organized event. Thanks Gatorade.”

With the win, Payne earns an automatic bid into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals that will take place at the Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 16-19, 2010 at EnergySolutions Arena. The final chance to land a spot in the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals takes place this weekend, September 11-12, at Salt Lake City’s Rosewood park.
