Injured Elites slowly making their way back to the track
Everyone was on hand to check out the race action at the ABA Winter Nat’s at Speedworld, but some were in better shape then others. Olympic Gold Medalist Maris Strombergs is still out with his broken wrist and is recovering from a second small surgery. Not expecting to be back in full contention anytime soon, he will be returning from injury and setting his immediate sights on training for the Olympics in 2012. No word yet on his National or International race schedule later this year. Arielle Martin was back on the track Saturday, returning to Elite Women after recovering from a broken hand. Still nursing a weak grip and good sized lump on the backside of her still healing hand, she followed doctors orders and took it easy, skipping Sundays race. Her short term goal is to be at 100% by the first UCI SX race in Africa this April 8-9. Alise Post, is finally back on the track, returning from a badly broken leg and is feeling strong, but not yet 100%. Her doctor still has her “taking it easy”, but like Arielle, she wanted to get in a little lap time before the SX in Africa. Still dealing with some post lap soreness in Arizona, she feels she will be back up to full speed in time for the Supercross event. Good luck to all in the healing process as we cant wait to have the Elite gates once again stacked with the best of the best.
